About the CaP Network

The Crime and Punishment Collections Network was formed in 2005, after a successful funding application from the MLA for the exploration and establishment of Subject Specialist Networks. It is a network of museums, libraries, archives and heritage sites concerned with the topic of crime and punishment.

The Network's Purpose

The Crime and Punishment Collections Network (CaP) aims to establish an organisation to represent, promote and assist museums, libraries, archives and heritage sites which either hold collections or manage sites related to the topic of criminal justice. It aims to encourage active cooperation in the exchange of information and best practice across the disciplines and departments as well as support members with research and media enquiries. The network intends to provide greater access to collections and sites by raising public awareness of member's organisations and specialisms. It will also collectively offer assistance in respect of the protection of vulnerable collections and sites. The Crime and Punishment Network shall serve primarily the British Isles but will actively seek international partners.

The Network's Aims
