Collection includes documents and photographs for Barrow Police (BSPB), Lancashire Constabulary, Furness and Lonsdale (BSCons) and BDX 645 (a private collection of Police memorabilia). We also have about 360 volumes from the various magistrates courts (Millom, Ulverston, Furness, Barrow) and some county court records (mostly bankruptcy records). Barrow as a County Borough had its own Police Fornce bwteen 1881 and 1974. The rest of Furenss, which we also cover, was policed by Lancashire Constabulary.
