Any publications or other relevant material about the collection / history of the organisation?

As part of our Arts Council funded Access all Areas project, which began in 2013, ten publications were written by experts about different areas of the art, social history and archaeology collections. Within these books some focus was given to the history of the organisation and the history of acquisitions made for the collection.

Historic Buildings?

Inside the museum is the original Tudor court room that was used in the building when it was a courthouse. The medieval castle was saved from destruction after the Civil War to hold criminals and people awaiting trial. There is a dungeon and a separate room that was used as a cell. The small building next to the courthouse building was used as a jail.
