We chiefly hold records of the Surrey Court of Quarter Sessions, 1659-1971; however we also hold records of the various magistrates courts in Surrey; also records of institutions such as the Royal Philanthropic Society from 1789 which provided residential care and training for homeless and criminal children which had its main centre in Redhill, Surrey,
Details of opening for public access and / or research services We are pleased to welcome visitors to Surrey History Centre for pre-booked access to our unique collections. We are now open 4 days a week (Tuesday to Friday), with both morning and afternoon sessions. We are also opening on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month. Please note that the searchroom is closed to the public at lunchtime (12.45pm to 1.45pm on weekdays; 1pm to 1.45pm on Saturdays).
